Spectacular Steampunk began with a question: what would the world look like if the Industrial Revolution had never surrendered to modernism? What if the age of steam, brass, machinery, and invention had simply kept evolving — becoming more refined, more theatrical, and more extraordinary with every passing decade?
As a lifelong lover of history, I was drawn to the romance and grit of the era: the craftsmanship, the weight of the materials, the drama of classic design, and the sense that every object had a purpose. When this theme was selected, it gave me permission to think completely outside the box and take risks most people would hesitate to take.
Black on black on black — and then a little more black — is not a direction everyone runs toward. But this room demanded it. The darkness became the atmosphere. The amber and blue light became the electricity. The gears, pipes, textures, and metalwork became the language.
Featured on HGTV's Theme Queen, Spectacular Steampunk became more than a themed room. It became a portal. The moment you step inside, you feel transported out of the present and into another world entirely — one where time is measured in gears, invention never stopped, and the bathroom somehow became the most dramatic room in the house.
01
A hand-etched backlit glass panel featuring gears, a crescent moon, and an octopus — illuminated in deep blue. Custom designed and fabricated for this space. There is nothing else like it in existence.
02
A freestanding copper clawfoot tub set on a raised platform beneath a crystal chandelier. Black subway tile, dark grout, industrial pipe fixtures with red valve accents. Functional art.
03
An entire wall clad in dimensional bronze gears, cogs, and mechanical reliefs. Every piece was sourced, placed, and finished by hand. The ceiling above it is a star field — because in this world, the sky is always visible.
04
Fiber optic points of light embedded in a deep black ceiling, creating the illusion of standing beneath an open night sky. The gears turn below. The stars burn above.
05
Silver textured wallpaper, a tufted upholstered headboard, plum velvet accents, and warm amber light. The bedroom is the counterpoint — quieter, softer, but no less intentional.
06
Spectacular Steampunk was featured on HGTV's Theme Queen — national television, millions of viewers, and a space that proved immersive design is not a niche. It is the future.
The gear wall. The copper tub. Nothing was ordered from a catalog. Every element was sourced, placed, and finished by hand — on site, in the dark, until it was right.
